The McCallum Medal Presentation Competition

The NSW Young Lawyers Employment and Industrial Law Committee presents the 2011 McCallum Medal Presentation Competition!

You are to prepare a presentation synopsis on a topic provided by the competition rules. The synopsis is due on 3rd October 2011.

Five finalists will be chosen to provide a presentation on their topic.

First prize includes:

  • The prestigious McCallum Medal
  • Winner's name engraved on the McCallum Medal perpetual shield 
  • $500 book voucher from Thomas Reuters
  • $500 cash from The College of Law
  • Publication of article in Thomas Reuters' publication "Workplace Review"

Australian Red Cross Writing Competition

CALLING ALL LLB/COMMUNICATION STUDENTS!

The Red Cross invites you to submit a feature article of 1,000 words on the theme: "Small Arms: Big Humanitarian Challenges". 

Your task is to investigate a particular aspect of small arms use or proliferation to highlight the humanitarian challenges these weapons pose.

Prizes of A$1000, A$500 and A$250 will be awarded for first, second and third place respectively. Winning articles will also be published in the Red Cross Red Crescent publications. 

Closing date: 5pm AEST on Friday, September 16th 2011

UWSLSA Moot Club

The Moot Club will continue to run at Campbelltown Campus this semester. It will be run by Bharath on Thursday evenings at 6pm in the Moot Court.

A Parramatta Moot Club will also be run this semester, with details to be released shortly.

2011 ALSA Conference Update

The UWS LSA would like to congratulate all competitors who competed in the ALSA Competitions at the 2011 July Conference in Sydney. 

A shout out goes to Keyana Low and Emily Hale, who made it to the Quarter Finals of the Negotiation Competition. This was a fantastic effort, making our university proud!
